The Pleasure of Allah Only

Importance of Pleasing Allah Only.

Audhibillahi Mina-Shaytani Rajeem, Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim:

Insh’Allah I would like to start a kitab (book) club on the blog under the category of Maktub from the book The Ideal Muslimah by Muhammad Ali Al-Hashimi. I think two chapters a week should suffice, Insh’Allah if you have any comments or questions please post them.  May Allah swt grant us all the strength and Iman in our everyday lives and may he give me the towfiq and correctness to speak to you all about these very important topics. May He forgive me for the mistakes I make, and may you forgive me for the mistakes I make. I am doing this solely for the sake of Allah swt and nothing and noone else, and because we are all equal servants of him, no one higher than another, nobody better than another. All good that comes from me is from Allah swt and all bad that comes from me is from myself.

We will begin every discussion from here forth with the basic concept of understanding human creation. You were created for 1 Ultimate purpose, and that purpose was to serve your Creator. This is because that Creator is all knowing and all wise, no one and nothing knows better than He and no one and nothing can help you but He. You must understand that everything you do He sees and everything you think He hears. From there on we will try to understand that everyday when you wake up you must remember your purpose, and remember your Creator in everything you do, from school to work to home. From talking to people, friends and family, we must remember Allah swt in everything and everyone we come across.

Secondly,  once you believe in Allah swt, and have faith, that Imaan leads to submission to His will, which is submission to Islam. You cannot say you believe in Allah swt, without acting accordingly to His laws, to His religion. And we want to establish  through our weekly/monthly halaqas that this is not  a hard task to succeed at. Islam is  a very simple religion, with laws that will guide you to the BEST of this life, AND the best of the next life. So once you embrace Islam just remember you are now safe, everything you do will bring you success and nothing less. Basically this is how we should see it: first, Allah has created you, therefore you are only alive and breathing because of Him, second, in order to succeed at this life that He has given you, comply to His simple religion. And Allah swt knows best, and you do not.

Now after establishing this introduction, we will go on to elaborate on the Muslim woman and how she seeks to earn the pleasure of Allah. Her first and foremost concern is pleasing her Lord, and pleasing Him the way He asks to be pleased, by acting accordingly to Islam. Whenever there is a conflict between what pleases Allah and what pleases the people, she will have no problem choosing Allah swt. She will have no hesitation, or argument, even if it will anger people around her. She does this because of her deep understanding of Islam and her own common sense that pleasing the people is a goal that can never be achieved, and it will only bring about the wrath of Allah swt.

The Prophet Muhammad Asaalatu Wasalaam, said: Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah at the risk of displeasing the people, Allah will take care of him and protect him from them. But whoever seeks the pleasure of the people at the risk of displeasing Allah, Allah will abandon him to the care of the people.  By following Islam, the straight path is shown to the Muslim woman, she will know what she is allowed to do and what she should avoid, and she must always remember, her end goal is to please her Lord.  There is 1 thing Muslim women should always remember: You are different from the Kufar women who reveal themselves however they please, and put themselves on display for the whole world to see. Islam sees women as diamonds put on a level higher than the rest of society, they should be protected, cherished and most of all hidden so the eyes of strangers do not see them. The hijaab is that which protects a woman from the gross desires of men who degrade women with their stares and comments. It puts a ‘pardah’ between the woman and the rest of the world, where she has her privacy and her freedom to do what she wants. The hijaab will be elaborated on in another discussion Insh’Allah.

Further, when a Muslimah accepts Islam as her religion, she must obey ALL laws of it, not just one or two and disobey the rest, but accept everything it has to offer. For Allah is perfect, and the way of life he has provided for you is perfect. If you accept one part of the life and not the other, the life is not perfect but is incomplete. Understood?  For example, there are women who can pray perfectly, fast perfectly, even hijaab perfectly, but in many instances follow their desires and go off the right path. In social gatherings they involved themselves in gossip, backbiting, criticising people, plotting against anybody they dislike, and putting words in their mouths so as to discredit them. These kind of Muslims are suffering from weakness of faith and failure to understand the perfection of their religion, how whole and complete Islam really is.

Allah swt revealed this way of life so to guide mankind in every aspect of their life, from waking up, to going to the bathroom, to eating, to going out and talking to people, everything is written and completely explained

Allah swt say in the Qur’an Sharif: “I have only created jinns and men, that they should worship Me alone.” – (Quran 51:56)

You shouldn’t waste your day on daily chores and school work, or on the enjoyment of good things of this world. Life should be a mission for you, that everyday you complete the mission little by little. By completing the mission all you have to do is make the intention to do everything for Allah swt, as long as your every action is for Allah swt, your day has been a success, and your life has been completed. Isn’t that easy enough?  For example, when you talk to your parents, for the sake of Allah, just have patience with them, if they say something you don’t like, it’s okay, just remember they’re saying it for the best of you, they would never say something to hurt you. If you don’t like it at the time, Allah promises, you will in the end be grateful for what your parents have asked you to do. So for the sake of Allah even if you don’t want to do it, just do it. Even if you don’t want to do it to please others, do it to please Allah. You will see that eventually, by doing things for Allah only, your life has become so much easier, your mind becomes at peace! Just try it..

In this way, by always making your intentions for the sake of Allah swt, imagine everyone of your actions will be an act of worship! So, imagine your whole day in worship without even knowing it! It’s so easy, just remember Allah swt before everything you do, and if you ever come across hardship just remember Allah swt can solve all problems, big or small, and your day will become easier, and at the same time, every one of your actions will be counted towards good deeds! For example, even if your having a problem with your school work, and you ask for Allah’s help in helping you understand that problem and work out a solution , just doing your homework can be considered praying to Allah swt. You see, Allah has made it so easy for us to earn His happiness, by the littles things you can make your Lord proud of you.  So long as your intentions are pure and clean, and just for the single reason of pleasing your Creator, everything you think and do is considered worship, and your whole day can be spent in worship without you even fully realizing it. See, Islam is easy.

I know it’s kind of late..but when i read one of your posting “The Pleasure of Allah Only”, it attracts me. Since you mentioned there that you started the kitab club from the book The Ideal Muslimah under the category of Maktub. I wonder how is it going? Is it still continuing?
I wonder how the club running…is it by posting the comment on your blog or you made an online group i.e yahoo group? If we leave the comment for the discussion…why i cant see any comments or discussions…does it mean i have to sign in ?
I am really sorry for many questions in a time. Actually i was thiking if i can join the club since i have the book with me, i believe by joining the group i might get more informations from others who has more experience and knowledge than me.

By the way…do you know if Muhammad Ali Al-Hashimi also wrote the book “The Ideal Muslim” ?? Isnt’ it great ? Masyaallah!
( I got “The Ideal Muslimah” as a gift from an imam of one masjid in Regina-Canada who came to our city to give bayan. I thanked Allah for the book that i got but still…i complained which was not good! I said to my husband, why the advices only for sisters? Why the world gives less advises for muslim men?)
I think Allah wants to show me that my complaint was not right! Last december 2007..there was bookfair in my city. I found “The Ideal Muslim”…it was only one book there! Masyaallah..

O ye who believe! If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly (Qur’an; Surah: Muhammad, Ayaat: 7)

    Wa’Alaikum Asalaam,
    wa rahmatullahi wa barakato!

Ma shaa ‘Allaah, ya sister, I hope you are in the best of health and the highest of Imaan, jazakum’Allaahu khairun for your beautiful comment and feedback! I greatly appreciate it, as for if the book club is still going on or not, I decided to start a few months ago by just posting a chapter of the book on my blog and whomever read it- could at their leisure. It wasn’t supposed to be a very interactive club or anything, but inshaa’Allaah we can aspire to make it so! Alhamdulillah, your feedback inspired me to really make it a goal to start up again, inshaa’Allaah. Jazakum’Allaahu Khairun once again :)! I’ll be in touch with you via email inshaa’Allaah.
